Interview on Founder Wisdom Podcast

May 9, 2025#media #tech #talk

I was invited by Charles Cormier to appear on the Founder Wisdom podcast, where we had a deep conversation about my journey as a technical founder, bootstrapping DataUnlocker, and my perspectives on the crypto industry.

What We Discussed

The conversation covered quite a few topics:

DataUnlocker and the Analytics Problem. I explained how websites lose 20–50% of their user data because ad blockers categorize analytics scripts as intrusive. DataUnlocker acts as a proxy that allows companies to recover this data accurately. I also shared that I'm working on a 2.0 version designed to be cryptographically secure and resistant to blocker lists. The whole story started back in 2017 with my technical article on FreeCodeCamp.

A Generational Take on Crypto. I've been involved in crypto since 2017, previously working on account abstraction technology at DeCash. My view is that the legacy financial world is largely a "gerontocracy" - run by older generations using outdated concepts - while crypto represents younger people attempting to create a fairer economic opportunity for themselves. While acknowledging the prevalence of scams, I compared navigating crypto to having street smarts: you need to be careful about who you trust with your assets.

Global Nomadism and Business Structure. Having visited 78 countries, I shared insights on global economics - including my fascination with Argentina's dual exchange rates and chaotic inflation that leads to a massive variety of coins. For my business structure, I chose Estonian e-Residency over Delaware, primarily because Estonia offers 0% tax on retained earnings, allowing me to reinvest without immediate tax liability. Still, the company formation is under consideration.

The War and Returning Home. As a Ukrainian originally from Kyiv, I expressed my strong desire to return to Ukraine. I believe around 80% of displaced Ukrainians feel the same, but a return is only viable once there are concrete guarantees of security.
