Travel to Colombia

That's the second time I came to Colombia, now in a group of 8 IT specialists. Returning to a country always feels different - you're no longer a tourist discovering everything for the first time, but someone reconnecting with a place you've grown to appreciate.

Fun fact: Colombia has two major cellphone carriers (Claro and Movistar). This time I purchased a different carrier from what I had a year ago. It turned out that I just wasted my money because my phone was locked to the previous carrier.

What Changed This Time

Traveling with a group of tech colleagues brought a completely different energy to Colombia. We explored together, shared discoveries, and had endless conversations about work, life, and the countries we've seen. Group travel has its own magic - you experience the same places but through eight different perspectives.

This trip will forever be marked by a dark moment in history. On February 24, 2022, while we were in Colombia, Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The contrast was surreal - sitting in a beautiful tropical country, reading devastating news from home. It's something that changed everything.

The Colombia I Remember

Despite the circumstances, Colombia remained as vibrant as I remembered. The coffee, the people, the music in the streets - all of it continued, a reminder that life goes on even in the darkest times. Sometimes you need that distance to process things that are too big to comprehend up close.
